The September issue of Shogakukan's Coro Coro Comics magazine revealed last week that Hideyasu Takahashi is launching a new manga in his Mysterious Joker manga series titled Kaitō Shōnen Jokers. The magazine also revealed that the upcoming Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: Oni-ō no Fukkatsu (Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: The Return of the Oni King) film will get a manga. The magazine published a preview for both manga.
The Kaitō Shōnen Jokers manga introduced Kai and J, the two young phantom thieves starring as the new protagonists.
Takahashi ended the original Mysterious Joker (Kaitō Joker) manga on July 15. The manga launched in Shogakukan's Bessatsu Coro Coro Comic magazine in 2007, although it then moved to the main Coro Coro Comics magazine in 2008. Shogakukan will publish the manga's 26th and final compiled volume on September 15..
The manga has inspired four television anime, all of which Crunchyroll streamed with the title Joker as they aired in Japan. The latest season premiered last October.
Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: Oni-ō no Fukkatsu (Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: The Return of the Oni King) is the fourth film in the Yo-kai Watch franchise. In the film's story, there used to be a boy who could control yo-kai with a mysterious watch. However, he became unable to see yo-kai when he became an adult. With the boy's duties finished, the watch was buried away in space-time. Then 30 years later, quiet everyday life comes to an end as a fateful day begins with a comet drawing near. The terrible yo-kai virus Onimaro infects people's malevolent intentions and spreads infinitely. The one chosen by the yo-kai watch is the one who can save humanity from its crisis. The bond between humans and yo-kai may be recovered with the attainment of a new yo-kai watch.
The film opens in Japan on December 16.
