Hong Kong film distributor Neofilms announced on Wednesday that it will begin screening Kyoto Animation and Animation DO's Free! -Timeless Medley- Kizuna (Free! The Movie -Timeless Medley- the Bond) anime film in Hong Kong in September.

The film opened in Japan on April 22. It ranked at #10 in the Japanese box office in its opening weekend. The film is the first of two compilation films for Kyoto Animation and Animation DO's Free! franchise. The second film, Free! -Timeless Medley- Yakusoku (Free! The Movie -Timeless Medley- the Promise), opened in Japan on July 1 and ranked at #10 in the Japanese box office in its opening weekend.

The Timeless Medley compilation films feature returning cast members from the first television anime series, the Free! Eternal Summer sequel television anime series, and the High Speed! -Free! Starting Days- prequel anime film. In particular, the High Speed! film's Asahi Shiina and Ikuya Kirishima are now third-year students in the Kazami and Shionezaki High School Swim Clubs, respectively.

Eisaku Kawanami (episode director on both television anime, unit director on the High Speed! film) of the studio Animation DO directed the films at Kyoto Animation and Animation DO. Scriptwriter Masahiro Yokotani (both television anime and High Speed! film) was credited with composition, and Futoshi Nishiya also returned from the previous Free! projects as the character designer.

The brand-new Free! -Take Your Marks- theatrical anime project is a sequel to Free! -Timeless Medley-, and it will screen in theaters in Japan in October 28. The story takes place in March, with Haruka dealing with graduation from high school. The film depicts four stories set in the days of early spring, before the characters advance to the next starting blocks of their futures, and what lies ahead.
