2nd Live-Action March comes in like a lion Film Opens at #4

Meitantei Conan Kara Kurenai no Love Letter (Detective Conan: Crimson Love Letter), the 21st Detective Conan (Case Closed) anime film, fell from #1 to #2 in terms of tickets sold its second weekend at the Japanese box office, after Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast film opened at #1. The film sold 580,000 tickets in its second weekend for a box office intake of 748 million yen (about US$6.8 million).
Eiga Crayon Shin-chan Shūrai! Uchūjin Shiriri (Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Invasion! Alien Shiriri), the Crayon Shin-chan franchise's 25th anime film, fell from #2 to #3 in its second weekend. The film sold 169,000 tickets for a box office intake of 200 million yen (about US$1.8 million).
The second live-action film based on Chika Umino's March comes in like a lion (Sangatsu no Lion) manga opened on 295 screens on Saturday and ranked #4. In its opening two days, the film sold 96,000 tickets to earn 128 million yen (about US$1.2 million). The total is about 88.6% that of the first film's opening weekend total from March 18-19.
The live-action Ghost in the Shell film dropped from #5 to #8 in its third weekend. Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Nankyoku Kachi Kochi Daibōken (Doraemon the Movie 2017: Great Adventure in the Antarctic Kachi Kochi), the 37th anime film in the Doraemon franchise, dropped from #6 to #9 in its eighth weekend.
Free! -Timeless Medley- Kizuna, the first of two compilation films for Kyoto Animation's Free! anime franchise, opened on Saturday at 31 theaters and ranked #10 at the box office. The second film, Free! -Timeless Medley- Yakusoku will open on July 1.
