The official website for Koei Tecmo Games and Gust's Nights of Azure 2 (Yoru no Nai Kuni 2 ~Shingetsu no Hanayome~) game began streaming the game's second promotional video on Monday. The video confirms the game's August 31 release date for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo Switch.
Gust originally announced the game with a planned December 22, 2016 release date, but Gust announced in November that it was delaying the game until February 2017. The company then said in January that the game was delayed until sometime this year. The staff said it is delaying the game in order to further enhance the game's quality. Koei Tecmo Games had announced the Switch version in April.
Koei Tecmo Games plans to release the game in North America and Europe. The company describes the sequel:
Following the success of Nights of Azure, which marked a darker direction for GUST, producer Keisuke Kikuchi returns to the demon-plagued world where players will follow the story of a young girl knight born from the blood of Arnice, the main character of Nights of Azure. Nights of Azure 2 (working title) maintains the same JRPG gameplay elements adored by dedicated fans of the studio and expands this new franchise's horizons with a riveting new storyline!
The game stars Sayaka Senbongi as Alesh Anatoria, Ai Kayano as Liliana Selfin, and Mikako Komatsu as Ruenhide Ariarod. Hiroshi Kataoka (Sengoku Musou Chronicle) is directing the game, Keisuke Kikuchi is producing the game, Makoto Shibata (Fatal Frame series) is returning to handle the story, and Jun'ichi Fujisaku (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Blood-C scriptwriter) is supervising the story. Yoshiku is returning to design the characters.
Gust shipped Nights of Azure (Yoru no nai Kuni) for the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita in Japan in October 2015. Koei Tecmo America released the game in North America in March 2016, and Koei Tecmo Europe released the game in Europe in April 2016. Both releases were for PS4 only. Koei Tecmo Games released the first game on Steam on February 7.
