Art Studio Atelier BWCA Closes Due to Director's Health
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The official website of art and background studio Atelier BWCA announced earlier this month that it will close by the end of February. The announcement noted that the reason the company is shutting down is due to health issues of its director Hidetoshi Kaneko, which has worsened since last year, and has forced him to take a hiatus from work.
Atelier BWCA was founded in 1986, and was named after the "bwca," the Welsh version of the Brownie from Scottish folklore. The studio has worked on background and art design for such anime as Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, Aiura, Psychic School Wars, Yawara! A Fashionable Judo Girl, Mob Psycho 100, Record of Lodoss War, Love Live! The School Idol Movie, Mōryō no Hako, Terror in Resonance, My Neighbor Totoro, and Magic of Stella, among many others. Kaneko has served as art director on many of the projects the studio has worked on.
