Eleven Arts began streaming an English-dubbed trailer on Thursday for the United States screening of Yo-kai Watch: The Movie, the first Yo-kai Watch anime film.
The film will screen in select theaters in the United States on October 15 for one day only.
Eleven Arts describes the film:
In YO-KAI WATCH: THE MOVIE EVENT, Jibanyan, Whisper, and Nate meet a heroic Yo-kai named Hovernyan, and must travel back in time to team up with Nate's adolescent grandfather to stop an evil Yo-kai from taking over the world! Can they discover the secret origin of the Yo-kai Watch and save humanity before time runs out!?
The film will feature the voice cast from the Yo-kai Watch television anime's Disney XD English dub. The film also introduces Hovernyan, a floating blue cat who is the companion of Nate's grandfather Nathaniel.
Theatergoers will also be able to receive a limited-edition Hovernyan Yo-motion Medal, which can be used with the Yo-kai Watch Model Zero toy, and unlocks content in the Yo-kai Watch Land and Yo-kai Watch Wibble Wobble apps, and the YO-KAI WATCH 2: Bony Spirits and YO-KAI WATCH 2: Fleshy Souls Nintendo 3DS games.
The Yo-kai Watch Wibble Wobble app will have a limited-time Hovernyan event that will tie in to the film.
The film premiered in Japan in December 2014. The film was the top-grossing domestic film in Japan in 2015, and earned 7.8 billion yen (about US$65 million). The film ranked #1 in the Japanese box office in its opening weekend by selling 1,484,916 tickets for 1,628,893,000 yen (about US$13.53 million). The film retained its #1 ranking for two weeks after opening, and stayed in the top 10 for 11 weeks. The film also topped the 2015 animation DVD sales.
The Yo-kai Watch television anime premiered on Disney XD last October.
