Level-5 Plans Anime for Next Inazuma Eleven Soccer RPG

Characters, art teased before July 27 unveiling

Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino confirmed in a streamed program on Friday that his company will unveil the latest game in the Inazuma Eleven soccer role-playing game series on July 27 at the "Level5 Vision 2016 -New Heroes-" event. He also said that Level-5 is going forward with an anime adaptation in mind.

Hino added that in the new project the setting will not be in space, underground, or at the bottom of the ocean, and that the setting will return to the period of time of "Part 1." The project's protagonist will be a new character.

Hino presented character designs (including one for a character that he previously teased on Twitter) and background art:

The Inazuma Eleven soccer anime franchise is based on Level-5's game series of the same name. The original 127-episode anime series aired between 2008-2011, and has since inspired the Inazuma Eleven GO, Inazuma Eleven GO 2: Chrono Stone, and Inazuma Eleven GO Galaxy sequel series. The television anime franchise ended its five-and-a-half year run in March 2014. The anime franchise also includes three films and the Inazuma Eleven Go vs. Danbōru Senki W crossover film.

Hulu began streaming the first 26 episodes of the original series with English and Spanish dubs in 2013, but the show is no longer available.

Level-5 released the first Inazuma Eleven video game on the Nintendo DS in 2008. The company has since released several other games for Nintendo 3DS, Wii, arcades, and smartphones.

Nintendo released a 3DS port of the original Inazuma Eleven game in North America in February 2014.
