The official website for the upcoming television anime adaptation of Nozomi Uda's Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge (Tanaka is Always Listless) manga began streaming a promotional video for the anime on Wednesday. The video reveals the anime's premiere date of April 9, and previews the anime's theme song "Utatane Sunshine" by Unlimited tone.
The anime's cast includes:

- Yoshimasa Hosoya as Ohta
- Natsumi Takamori as Miyano
- Kotori Koiwai as Shiraishi
- Ayaka Suwa as Echizen
- Aoi Yūki as rino
- Nao Tōyama as Saya
- Kazuyuki Okitsu as Shimura

Shinya Kawatsura (.hack//GIFT, Kokoro Connect, Non Non Biyori) will direct the anime at SILVER LINK, and Akemi Omode (Getbackers, Kyo kara Maoh!, Tales of the Abyss) will oversee the scripts. Haruko Iizuka (Umi Monogatari, Ōkami-san & Her Seven Companions, Little Busters!) will design the characters for animation, while KUSANAGI will provide the art direction. The youth comedy manga follows the ever-listless Tanaka and his taciturn classmate Ohta, who can't leave Tanaka alone.
Uda launched the series on the Gangan Online website in 2013, and Square Enix published the manga's fifth compiled volume last November. The sixth volume will ship in April. The manga has more than 1 million copies in print.
