posted on by Egan Loo
The Pokémon Company streamed the "Mega Special Animation" short inspired by the upcoming Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire games on Sunday. The short features Pokémon undergoing the newly discovered Mega Evolution and Primal Reversion in the Hoenn region.
Nobuhiko Okamoto plays the male protagonist, while Kana Hanazawa plays the female protagonist. The other cast members include Akira Ishida as Daigo, Eri Kitamura as Tsutsuji, and Megumi Han as Tanpan-kozō. Kiyotaka Furushima, Kensuke Satō, Yūichi Karasuma, Takahiro Fujiwara, Michiko Kaiden, Miyuki Kobori play Pokémon, and Toshiyuki Morikawa narrates. Daiki Tomiyasu (episodes of Pocket Monsters XY, Pocket Monsters: The Origin, Inazuma Eleven) directed the short at OLM TEAM KATO, and Tsutsumi Mai designed the characters.
The short first ran with the Pokémon: Destiny Deoxys movie on BS Japan on Sunday. Shōko Nakagawa ("Shokotan") introduces the games and demonstrates Primal Reversion and Mega Evolution as the broadcast's guest navigator:
Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire are remakes of the 2003 Game Boy Advance games Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire — the same generation of Pokémon games that inspired the Pokémon: Destiny Deoxys movie. The games will ship on November 28 in Europe and on November 21 in Japan, North America, and Australia.
