British Actor Bob Hoskins Passes Away
posted on by Egan Loo
British actor Bob Hoskins passed away on Tuesday after a bout of pneumonia. He was 71.
Hoskins starred in the Oscar-nominated Brazil as Spoor and was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his turn as George in Neil Jordan's Mona LiSA film. He won a Golden Globe for Mona LiSA, and he would also be nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy/Musical for Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Hoskins starred as Mario with John Leguizamo (Luigi) in Super Mario Bros., the first and only American live-action film adaptation of a Nintendo game franchise. However, Hoskins said it was the "worst thing I ever did," due mainly to the directors. Still, Leguizamo paid tribute to Hoskins for their time together in the film:
Dear #BobHoskins rest in peace! - never worked a more gentle kind and talented actor!
