posted on by Karen Ressler
The Flash animation studio OperaHouse began streaming a short promotional video for its upcoming anime adaptation of Masahide Ichijō and Chiku's four-panel manga The Hired Gun (Koroshiya-san) on Monday. The video features the main cast, images from the manga, and is set to the show's main theme "the end" by Mix Speaker's,Inc. (Daily Lives of High School Boys).
The cast includes Takahiro Sakurai as Kuroshiya-san, Aki Kanada as Apprentice, Saki Fujita as Father's Rival Woman, Tōru Ohkawa as Police Sergeant, and Keiji Fujiwara as Gorō.
The comedy story follows the title character, who is regarded by himself and others as the best hit man in Japan. He goes by the motto, "If I have an assignment, I will kill anything." However, his "killing" assignments have expanded to include everything from summer vacation homework to housekeeping. "The hit man never fails to kill the target. Though he does not aim to, he also never misses the laughter."
Ai Ikegaya, the director and producer of the Beelzebub anime's spinoff video short project Hashire! Beru-bō Keiji!, is directing the anime shorts at the Flash animation studio OperaHouse. The manga launched in Manga Action magazine in 2004, and Futabasha published the fourth volume in 2009. That same year, the manga inspired a drama CD.
