Sunrise Makes New Kaiketsu Zorori Family Adventure Anime Film

Popular children's books get 2nd feature-length anime film

Sunrise announced on Wednesday that a second Kaiketsu Zorori movie, Kaiketsu Zorori Mamoru ze! Kyōryū no Tamago (The Incredible Zorori Will Protect Them! The Dinosaur Eggs), will be released in theaters in Japan on December 14. Tomoko Iwasaki (producer of Legend of the Legendary Heroes) is directing the film at the studios Sunrise and Asia-Do. The movie is based off Yutaka Hara's popular children's book series.

A trailer is already streaming for the new movie:

In the story, the three main characters — Zorori, Ishishi, and Noshishi — get a letter from their friend (a dinosaur mother) to come see some dinosaur eggs because they are going to hatch soon. When they get to the legendary dinosaur island, they are greeted with a warm welcome. However, a huge typhoon hits the island and the eggs go missing. Zorori goes on a quest to save the eggs and have them safely returned to their families.

This is the second feature-length film adaptation of Yutaka Hara's children's books. In April of 2012, Sunrise announced that the first full-length feature film adaptation of Yutaka Hara's books, Kaiketsu Zorori Da-Da-Da-Daibōken!, would open in the winter of that year.

Hara's books also inspired a 1993 film, a 2004-2005 television anime series, a second television anime from 2005 to 2007, and a second film in 2006. (These earlier films were short works that were screened with other anime.) Tomoko Iwasaki also directed the film released last year, as well as several of the television episodes.
