Sony's PlayStation Blog announced on Friday that the Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection is slated to ship for the PlayStation 3 in North America for US$49.99 on July 9. Video game publisher Konami announced in April that it planned to release the game collection in North and South America in June.
The collection is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Series creator Hideo Kojima revealed earlier this month that the set will not be released on the Xbox 360 mainly due to capacity issues.
Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection will retail for 7,980 yen (about US$81.50) in Japan on July 11. The 2-disc set will include Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid Integral, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. The set will also come with Blu-ray video segments titled Metal Gear Solid: Bande Dessinée and Metal Gear Solid 2: Bande Dessinée, as well as a Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Book art book.
