Variety: Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston in Talks for Godzilla
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
The trade magazine Variety reported on Wednesday that actors Elizabeth Olsen and Bryan Cranston are in talks to star in Gareth Edwards and Legendary Pictures' Godzilla reboot. Nothing will be finalized until after Frank Darabont turns in his script rewrite, but The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog claims that Olsen would play possible lead actor Aaron Johnson's girlfriend and Cranston would star as Johnson's stepfather.
Olsen gained attention for her lead role in Martha Marcy May Marlene and is starring in Spike Lee's adaptation of Oldboy. Cranston is the current star of AMC's drama Breaking Bad. He's previously done voice work in the English dub of Armitage III and Macross Plus.
The same blog is also reporting that Godzilla will not be the only monster to appear in the film, a fact originally revealed in a Warner Bros. marketing webinar last month. According to the webinar, the film will include three monsters, including Godzilla.
Legendary Pictures is currently involved in an ongoing lawsuit with the film's former producers Dan Lin, Roy Lee, and Doug Davison. The film is still scheduled to open on May 16, 2014.
