After School Midnighters CG Anime Film Gets Sequel
posted on by Egan Loo
Production on a sequel to the 3D CG anime After School Midnighters (Hōkago Midnighters) has been green-lit. In the slapstick comedy story, a human anatomical model and a skeleton come to life in a science classroom at St. Claire Elementary School.
Kouichi Yamadera (Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion) stars in the film as the naked anatomical model Kunstlijk, and Hiromasa Taguchi (Kaasan - Mom's Life) voices the skeleton specimen Goth. Hitoshi Takekiyo directed the film after directing the original 2007 CG anime short After School Midnight (Hōkago Midnight).
Not only did the film open in 70 theaters throughout Japan last Saturday, but it also opened simultaneously in South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore. The producers submitted the film for consideration in the "best animated feature film" category of the Academy Awards.
