AnimeFest to Host Manga Creator Arina Tanemura in Dallas

The organizers of AnimeFest announced on Monday that manga creator Arina Tanemura will appear as a Guest of Honor during the August 31-September 3 convention in Dallas, Texas. Tanemura penned such series as Full Moon O Sagashite, Time Stranger Kyoko, The Gentlemen's Alliance†, and Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne.
Tanemura debuted in 1996 with the one-shot story "2-banme no Koi no Katachi" and her first series, I.O.N, started a year later. She launched her ongoing Sakura Hime manga in 2009, followed by the recently completed Fudanjuku Monogatari (The Fudanjuku Story) mini-series about the idol group Fudanjuku last year. Her other ongoing series is her essay manga Arina no Tane.
Viz Media publishes Tanemura's Sakura Hime and most of her other titles such as Full Moon O Sagashite, The Gentlemen's Alliance Cross, Time Stranger Kyoko, and I.O.N. DC Comics' CMX Manga imprint published her Kamikaze Kaitō Jeanne series.
AnimeFest 2012 will run during the Labor Day Weekend at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel. The convention is also hosting director Kōji Morimoto (Akira, City Hunter) and animator Tatsuyuki Tanaka (Akira, Bubblegum Crisis).
