Hanokage to Launch New Madoka Magica Manga (Update)
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The first issue of Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Magica magazine is announcing on Friday that Hanokage, the illustrator for the Puella Magi Madoka Magica manga, will launch a new manga title related to the series. The new manga will launch simultaneously with the theatrical premiere of the two Madoka Magica films, which open on October 6 and 13. Additional information about the new manga will be revealed in the second issue of Manga Time Kirara Magica.
The magazine also announced that the next issue will feature a "noisy citrine" side story arc for Mura Kuroe's Puella Magi Oriko Magica spinoff manga. Oriko Magica has been collected into a total of two volumes by Houbunsha.
Yen Press is publishing Hanokage's original Puella Magi Madoka Magica manga in English. The company released the manga's first volume (pictured at right) last month.
The official website for the Madoka Magica franchise revealed on Thursday that the two films will open in at least 42 screens. Those who buy advance tickets for the films starting on July 7 can also purchase a set of two clear files — one for the first film and one for the second film — for 3,000 yen (about US$38) or 1,500 yen (about US$19) each.
Update: Corrected details regarding title details and authors. Thanks, Clow_Shirow and sirn.
