New Toonami Anime Ranks #1 in Young Adult Demographics
posted on by Ko Ransom
The TV by the Numbers television analysis website reported that the Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins anime series ranked #1 among certain young adult viewership demographics during the Adult Swim channel's premiere of the revived Toonami block last Saturday.
The first episode of Deadman Wonderland, which was broadcast at 12:30 a.m. on May 26, was #1 in its time period among adults 18-24 (up 14% from the same time last year), men 18-24, and men 18-34 (up 2%). The first episode of Casshern Sins, which was broadcast at 1:00 a.m. on the 26th, was #1 in its time period among men 18-24 and 18-34.
In response to these numbers, Jason DeMarco, former Toonami producer and recently promoted vice president of strategic marketing and promotions for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, commented: "It did OKAY. Not bad but not measurably better than the week before. We need to do better. Hopefully we will!"
