Solid State Society Blu-ray, Live-action Yatterman Released Monday

On Manday May 21, Manga Entertainment is releasing a double-play edition of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society, containing the film on both Blu-ray and DVD. (Manga previously released the film on DVD in 2007.) The package includes extras such as a comedy anime short, "Uchikomatic Days," and a film on how Nissan incorporated two new car designs into Solid State Society.
The feature-length OVA brings back the police team Section 9, two years after the events of the "Second Gig" season of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Both the series and film were produced by Production I.G and directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Eden of the East, Moribito – Guardian of the Spirit). These anime are set in an alternative continuity to the two Ghost in the Shell cinema films, which were also made by Production I.G All of The Ghost in the Shell anime are derived from the original manga by Masamune Shirow.
Also on Monday, the video label Eureka will release the live-action adaptation of the anime Yatterman, directed by Takashi Miike (Audition, Ichi the Killer, Zatoichi) on both DVD and Blu-ray. The cast includes Arashi singer/actor Shō Sakurai (the live-action Honey and Clover film) who plays Gan Takada, one half of the Yatterman superhero duo who fights the nefarious Dorombo gang. The original anime was made by Tatsunoko Production in 1977, spun off from Time Bokan.
Also, Manga will release the second volume of Fairy Tail.
