Totoro's Home Tickets Now Offered in Convenience Stores
posted on by Ko Ransom
Beginning in April, individuals who wish to visit the Satsuki and Mei's House exhibit in Aichi, Japan will be able to purchase tickets at LAWSON convenience stores around the country. Beginning on the 10th of each month, tickets for the next month will be available for 500 yen (about US$6) for high school students and older and 250 yen (about US$3) for children older than 4 who are not yet in high school.
Satsuki and Mei's House is a recreation of the 1950's Showa-era home that the main characters of popular anime My Neighbor Totoro live in. When it was first reopened in 2006 after its exhibition in the 2005 World Expo, an overwhelming demand for tickets led to the decision to make tickets only available via return-paid postcard. According to Aichi prefecture, the house received 100,000 visitors in 2010.
