posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The official website for Shueisha's Jump Square magazine announced on Wednesday that it will begin publishing a manga version of the Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai (anohana) anime in the magazine's May issue on sale on April 4. New artist Mitsu Izumi will draw the manga. Izumi had previously published two one-shot stories in Jump Square, and those one-shots are now available to read for free on Jump Square's website.
Produced by A-1 Pictures, the eleven-episode anohana anime premiered on Fuji TV's Noitamina block from April 11 to June 23 of 2011. The story follows several childhood friends who try to reconnect in high school after drifting apart. Tatsuyuki Nagai (Toradora!, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun) directed the anime off the scripts by Mari Okada (Toradora!, Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler). Masayoshi Tanaka (Toradora!, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!) designed the characters, and the singer-songwriter REMEDIOS (Reimy) composed the music. The DVDs and Blu-ray Discs for the series have sold more than 270,000 copies.
