New Ikki Tousen Video Anime Launches
posted on by Andrew Osmond
The Japanese production company Media Factory began streaming a 41-second promotional video on Wednesday for the launch of a new original video anime project of Ikki Tousen. The official website for the franchise has also been updated with the new Ikki Tousen: Shūgaku Tōshi Keppu-roku anime project.
Geneon Entertainment once released the first Ikki Tousen anime series in North America, and Funimation now has the license. Media Blasters has licensed both the second Ikki Tousen anime series, Ikki Tousen: Dragon Destiny, and the third series, Ikki Tousen Great Guardians. Tokyopop held the license to the original manga in North America under the name Battle Vixens until the company closed its North American publishing branch.
Ikki Tousen: Shūgaku Tōshi Keppu-roku is the third OVA in the Ikki Tousen franchise, after Ikki Tousen: Dragon Destiny and Ikki Tousen Great Guardians both received OVA projects. The last entry in the franchise, Ikki Tousen: Xtreme Xecutor, aired in 2010.
