Tofu Kozō Anime Film's Blu-ray to Add Alternate Ending
posted on by Egan Loo
Warner Home Video in Japan will release the Blu-ray Disc of Gisaburô Sugii's Tōfu Kozō film on October 5 with an alternate ending, among other extras. In this computer-animated film, veteran director Sugii (Night on the Galactic Railroad, Touch) adapts a novel by Natsuhiko Kyōgoku (Loups-Garous, Mōryō no Hako, Requiem from the Darkness) about a boyish spirit in traditional Japanese folklore.
Warner Home Video is planning three different home video releases: a Blu-ray & DVD Set Collector's Box, a 3D & 2D Blu-ray Set, and a DVD & Blu-ray Set. All three will include the "illusive ending" that is different from the theatrical release. The Collector's Box will add a bonus DVD with staff interviews, footage from the voice cast's recording sessions and interviews, and "Tofu-chan's dance scene." The limited-edition box will also contain a deluxe booklet and a five-frame piece of film strip that was actually used during the movie's theatrical run in Japan.
The film opened in Japanese theaters in April.
