posted on by Egan Loo
The southern Japanese prefecture of Okinawa sponsored the production of Shimanchu MiRiKa, an anime promoting the local agricultural and industrial businesses. The local anime studio Soratia is producing the project about three girls who are into music and dance, Okinawan stage productions, and karate. Soratia aims to complete the project next March.
Kyūma Ōshita (character designer of Rocket Girls, Hi no Tori, Top Secret ~The Revelation~) and Yasushi Hirano (series script supervisor of 6 Angels, Brave Exkaiser, Dinosaur King, Metal Fighter Miku) are producing and directing the project. Hiroshi Katō art director of Ah! My Goddess, Blood: The Last Vampire) and Yōta Tsuruoka (sound director of Afro Samurai, Appleseed, Inuyasha) are also involved.
The anime is budgeted at 118 million yen (about US$1.4 million). The Ryukyu Shimpo newspaper posted an image of the anime.
