Kenichi Sonoda to Launch New Manga, Kio Ends Digopuri
posted on by Egan Loo
The August issue of Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine has announced on Friday that Kenichi Sonoda will launch a new manga called Bullet the Wizard in the next issue on July 23. Genshiken creator Shimoku Kio also ended his Digopuri (The Princess of the Hell) manga in the August issue, and the second and final book volume will ship on July 23. Haruko Ichikawa, the creator best known for the award-nominated Mushi to Uta manga, is releasing the first part of a new manga called 25-ji no Bakansu (1:00 a.m. Holiday) in the next issue.
Sonoda created the original manga for Riding Bean, Gunsmith Cats, and Cannon God Exaxxion. (The latter two titles ran in Afternoon.) He also designed the characters in Bubblegum Crisis, Gall Force, and Otaku no Video. Dark Horse Comics and Studio Proteus released Gunsmith Cats and Cannon God Exaxxion in North America. Kio had just launched his Digopuri manga in 2008, and the story follows 18-year-old Ayumi and her twin sister Kaname as they raise Ayumi's newborn daughter.
