The North American manga publisher Tokyopop and Australian international sales and production company Odin's Eye have announced on Wednesday that they are partnering on a proposed film adaptation of Queenie Chan's OEL manga series The Dreaming. Tokyopop CEO Stu Levy is slated to co-produce the film.
Chan's psychological thriller series revolves around twin sisters Amber and Jeanie, who have been accepted to an Australian boarding school where students have been known to wander off and vanish without a trace.
Michael Favelle (Crush, Three Blind Mice) will co-produce the film with Levy, and Australian-based writers Shayne Armstrong and Shane Krause will adapt the series to film. Kate Woods (Without a Trace, Looking for Alibrandi) will direct the film.
The film is slated to go into production in 2011 for a late 2012 release.
Levy is also the executive producer of the live-action film adaptation of Min-Woo Hyung's Priest horror manhwa, which opens in March 2011.
