posted on by Egan Loo
Tadashi Kawashima and Adachitoka's Alive - Saishū Shinka teki Shōnen science-fiction manga has ended in the March issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine on Saturday. The story follows a Tokyo high school boy named Taisuke Kanō after a virus causes entire cities to commit suicide across the world. However, Kanō and his friends not only survive the virus, but have evolved, as a species, into something darker.
The manga has been running in the magazine since 2003. The 20th compiled book volume of the manga will ship in Japan on February 17, and the 21st and final volume will ship in the middle of May. Del Rey published the 8th volume in North America in November. A television anime project was announced in 2008, but neither AIC nor Gonzo — the two studios attached to the project — list the anime in their lists of upcoming projects.
