The website for Video Business magazine has confirmed that the magazine's January 4 issue will its last. Video Business focused on home entertainment industry and ran for 29 years.
Video Business was the primary publication that anime companies used to purchase ads aimed at volume buyers in the retail industry. The onetime anime distribution company Geneon Entertainment (USA) Inc. used to sponsor multi-page pull-out sections in the magazine. Video Business also published special articles celebrating the 10th anniversaries of the anime/manga distributors Central Park Media (CPM) and ADV Films in 2000 and 2002, respectively.
According to the Video Business website, Reed Business Information, the corporate owner of Video Business, is closing operations for both the print magazine and its online presence in an effort to purge most of its business-to-business publications in the U.S.
The Video Business website stated that readers of the cancelled publication can instead get their news from the entertainment news website Variety.
