Gurren Lagann's Director, Designer Go to Anime Expo

The Anime Expo convention has announced that Gurren Lagann's director Hiroyuki Imaishi and character designer Atsushi Nishigori will attend the July 2-5 event in Los Angeles as Guests of Honor. In addition to the original Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann television series and the recent theatrical film adaptations, Imaishi also directed the Dead Leaves and OVAL X OVER video projects. He worked as an animation director on FLCL, Gunbuster 2, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, and Re: Cutie Honey.
Nishigori worked as a key animator on Grrl Power, Mahoromatic - Automatic Maiden, R.O.D -The TV-. He was also an animator on Spirited Away and the opening animation director on Zoku Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei.
Imaishi won the 12th Animation Kobe Director's Award, while Nishigori won the Individual Character Design Award at the 7th Annual Tokyo International Anime Awards.
