Sensual Phrase's Shinjo Illustrates Ayabie CD Cover

Mayu Shinjo, the manga creator best known for Sensual Phrase and Love Celeb, has announced in a Wednesday blog entry that she illustrated the cover for the "Ai Takute" CD single from the visual-kei band Ayabie. The single, which is the band's first release from a major label, will ship from Tokuma Japan Communications on May 27 in three versions: a limited first pressing with a bundled DVD, a regular A variant, and a regular B variant. Shinjo's illustration will only adorn the B variant. She not only drew the cover, but also designed the rest of the CD including its booklet and back.
Ayabie's Aoi (vocals), Yumehito (guitar), Takehito (guitar), Intetsu (bass), and Kenzō (drums) toured the United States for the first time last year. Shinjo has been drawing her Ai-Ore! Danshikō no Hime to Joshikō no Ōji manga in Kadokawa Shoten's Asuka magazine and working on various Gundam side projects for Kadokawa's Monthly Gundam Ace magazine and the official Gundam Seed mobile website. Ayabie's album is not Shinjo's first attempt to portray rock stars; her Sensual Phrase story centered on a teenaged girl who meets a band's lead singer and becomes his lyricist, muse, and more. Viz Media published Sensual Phrase in North America.
