Bridge Funding Arrives for Imagi's Astro Boy Film

The Variety entertainment trade news source reports that IMAGI U.S. President Erin Corbett has confirmed the arrival of the bridge financing needed to continue production on the studio's computer-animated Astro Boy film. The bridge funds which keep the company operating, until the previously promised funds from private equity firms arrive next Tuesday. The company had to shut down production on the film this week. Variety and Forbes had previously reported funding issues for the Hong Kong-based company in the midst of the global credit crunch.
The Astro Boy film features director David Bowers (Flushed Away) and scriptwriter Timothy Harris (Trading Places, Kindergarten Cop). The cast includes Freddie Highmore in the title role, Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland, Nathan Lane, Bill Nighy, Eugene Levy, Kristen Bell, and Matt Lucas.
