Scriptwriter's credits include Kindergarten Cop, and one of the lead roles is being played by Levy, best known for being the awkward, geeky dad in the American Pie movies?

...Sigh Sad

Having seen the trailer though, it does look somewhat faithful to Tezuka's comic...... the designs are slightly different since it's CGI, and go for a little realism, but still have the cartoony look that suits them best. I suppose it all depends on what tone they end up taking...... didn't see their TMNT movie yet, but its fans seemed to take it well. I'd probably rather see Astro then most of the live action dreck being shoved at us. It's good to hear it'll get completed..... I imagine Imagi's funding collapsed in the wake of everything that's been going on, so it's good to hear they've scrambled together, and hopefully can keep their animators employed through the end of this film, and maybe get a chance to continue Gatchaman if they're lucky.

There aren't many other domestic animation companies focused on making action adventure animated theatrical films, and it'd be bad to lose them, as they have some decent potential.

This is good news. Better be worth it, but I have faith in these guys to get the job done right.

Eugene Levy has done other voice over work(non anime). He has a nice distinctive voice.

And Kindergarten Cop wasn't high art or anything, but it was a fun movie. Hopefully Astro Boy will be a fun movie.

I'm very pessimistic that this movie will do well. But, that's just a gut reaction. Who knows....
