3rd Seiyū Awards to Set Up Foreign Fan Award Category

The Seiyū Awards' executive committee has decided to establish a Foreign Fan Award category for next year. According to the committee, the winner will be selected via votes casted by non-Japanese fans of anime and seiyū (voice actors and actresses) on the awards' official website. To that end, an English version of the official website will launch on November 29. Voters will have until January 1 to enter their favorite actors or actresses, and their character roles. The committee hopes to expand the fandom of Japanese anime overseas and reach out to foreign anime and seiyū fans.
Public voting has already begun in Japanese for the other categories of the awards. The current categories are for best lead actor, lead actress, supporting actor, supporting actress, new actor, new actress, singing, and personality. The 3rd Annual Seiȳu Awards will be announced during a ceremony on March 7, 2009. The results of the 2nd Annual Seiyū Awards were revealed earlier this year.
