Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine has confirmed that Blue Dragon: Tenkai no Shichi Ryū (The Seven Dragons of the Heavens) will premiere on April 5 in Japan. This is the second series for the anime adaptation of the Blue Dragon fantasy role-playing game from Final Fantasy co-creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and designer Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball). America's Cartoon Network announced that it will be airing Viz Media's adaptation of the first anime series this spring. Viz Media already started releasing the Ral Ω Grad spinoff manga from artist Takeshi Obata (Death Note, Hikaru no Go).
The official website of the Yasai no Yōsei - N.Y. Salad anime has announced that it will also have a second series. The extension will premiere on March 31 and continue every weekday at 7:40 to 7:45 a.m. This series uses an innovative combination of computer graphics and pencil sketches to depict the secret nocturnal life of vegetables in a New York kitchen. Not coincidentally, the anime's creator, famed illustrator Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy games, Vampire Hunter D, Gatchaman), lives in New York City. The anime won the Animedia Award at the most recent Japanese Otaku Awards.
Newtype magazine and the official website of TV Osaka have announced that the Onegai My Melody Kirara! anime series will premiere on April 6. It will be the fourth Onegai My Melody anime based on Sanrio's popular My Melody character. The anime segments will air as part of the Anime Lobby program that broadcasts at 9:30 a.m. on TV Osaka and other TV Tokyo affiliates.
