Ghibli Background Artist, Vertical Director Interviewed
posted on by Egan Loo
Yomiuri Weekly interviewed Kazuo Oga, the background artist on most Studio Ghibli films, as part of its coverage of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo's exhibition of his work. The interview covered his background, his works inside and outside Ghibli such as Spirited Away and Barefoot Gen, and director Hayao Miyazaki's meticulousness, which extended even to the color of the soil in the My Neighbor Totoro film. Yomiuri also reviewed the exhibit itself. Separately, the Bookslut blog interviewed Anne Ishii, the director of marketing and publicity at the manga publisher Vertical Press.
