When asked about any future plans for Macross, Haruhiko Mikimoto, character designer of the original Macross TV series and the Do You Remember Love Macross movie, stated that they are working on a sequel for Macross to be released in conjuction with Macross' 20th anniversary.
Mikimoto also discussed his current project, a 3D anime that he is hoping to gather interest in. Speaking about 3D animation in general Mikimoto said that the technique currently used in most 3D animation creates 3d models that look more like puppets than anything else. In order to improve the art, his production company is using another method that makes the onscreen product more like illustrated water colors.
A 30 minute promotional clip, to be circulated to draw interest and help raise funds for his project, will be created later this. Depending on the reaction teh project could evolve either as a feature film or a TV series.
