TRSI does the Boogiepop
posted on
TRSI has let slip that Shawne Kleckner will be showing parts of Boogiepop Phantom at AX and that it will be making its Canadian Debut at Fantasia later this year.
From director Watanabe Takashi (Slayers), comes Boogiepop Phantom. Based on the award-winning series of novels by Ueno Kouhei, Boogiepop is nothing like Slayers. Aimed at Adults, Boogiepop was aired in Japan as a late night TV series and has often been compared to another Avant Garde Anime series that has been very successful on this side of the ocean, Lain.
According to Kris Kleckner of TRSI "It's very lainesk and I think that a lot of people are really going to like it."
Boogiepop is slated to come out later this year, but first TRSI will be bringing it to a few conventions and festivals, so far they have confirmed Anime Expo and Montreal's Fantasia Film Festival.
