Paul "OtaKing" Johnson, an English animator who creates "retro anime-styled 2D animation films," has released an anime-style Alien fan film. The film is called Alien: Monday, and runs 19 minutes, including just under four minutes of end credits. It depicts an encounter between Ashlin, a female spaceship technician, and one of H.R. Gieger's iconic Aliens, first seen in the 1979 film Alien directed by Ridley Scott.

On his YouTube channel, Johnson says, "Animated by myself over six years and co-directed by Claudia 'Mak' Montealegre, this short film is a tribute to both Ridley Scott's Alien and classic 80s anime alike."

Johnson and Montealegre are both credited as directors. Johnson is credited with animation, background art, mechanical design and character design, as well as script, 3D modelling, inking, colouring and shading.

Montealegre is credited with production, management, art and animation supervision, as well as co-character design, casting, layout artist and colouring assistance.

The voice-actors on the film are Sara Secora as Ashlin and Philip Sacramento as the spaceship's computer, Conrad. Gabriel Rosauro is credited for tech support,

Johnson's YouTube channel includes his past fan-animated films, including a Doctor Who film; a Star Wars-inspired "TIE Fighter" short; and a film inspired by the videogame R-Type.
