Niantic Labs' Pokėmon Go app held its first in-game event from October 26 to November 1. Despite reports that the game's popularity, which was at an all-time high during the summer, has waned, players still turned out for the Ghost-focused Halloween event.
Game developer Niantic Labs told GamesRadar that players caught 1.3 billion spooky Pokémon over the five day period. Gastly was caught the most, followed by Cubone and Drowzee.
The event also included increased Pokémon Candy payouts. Specifically, every Pokémon caught earnedn Trainers six Candies—twice the normal amount. The professor also gave Trainers two Candies instead of one for every Pokémon transferred to him. In addition, Buddy Pokémon awarded four candies instead of the usual one. Pokémon Candies enable Trainers to evolve or strengthen their Pokémon.
