Cygames Donates 100 Million Yen to Kumamoto Earthquake Relief
posted on by Eric Stimson
In the wake of the Kumamoto earthquakes of April 14 and 16, many have come forward to show their support, whether through words of encouragement, self-restraint, or financial aid.
Mobile game developer Cygames announced on April 20 that it will donate 100 million yen (about US$915,323) to earthquake relief. The company will allocate 20 million yen (US$183,065) each to Kumamoto Prefecture, the Japan Red Cross, and the Central Community Chest of Japan; 10 million yen (US$91,532) to the Nippon Foundation; and 5 million yen (US$45,766) each to six different NGOs (non-governmental organizations) involved in reconstruction.
The company offered its condolences to the victims and its heartfelt prayers for fast relief.
Cygames is best known as the developer of mobile games like Rage of Bahamut, iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, and Granblue Fantasy, and for financing the Rage of Bahamut Genesis anime by itself instead of using a production committee model. The company has been expanding its horizons lately: last month it announced plans to open and anime production subsidiary.
