Nintendo's Takashi Tezuka Suggests Actress Should Play Link in Hypothetical Zelda Film
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
It was once reported by The Wall Street Journal that Netflix and Nintendo were working on a live-action Legend of Zelda series, before the rumor was shot down by late Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata. Despite the show existing merely as a a hypothetical, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka weighed in on who they would like to star as Link if it project was green-lit.
The two creators spoke with MTV and revealed they want fresh blood to take on the role, particularly an androgynous female actress. This idea doesn't seem too strange when you think that Peter Pan, another pointed-eared fictional character in a green tunic, was traditionally played by a woman for the stage productions.
Miyamoto also stated in the video that, while no live-action adaptations are in the works, Nintendo is open to the idea. He also declined to comment if a full-length Pikmin film was in the works.
