Tokyo Ghoul Tops Fan Poll of Manga That Finished Serialization in 2014

posted on by Bamboo Dong

Japanese news service Gadget Tsūshin asked readers to vote for the winner of "Complete Manga Prize 2014," and perhaps surprisingly, Naruto didn't take first place. That distinction belonged to Sui Ishida's Tokyo Ghoul, which was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump between 2011 and 2014.

Other notable titles include the long-running Asari-chan Ai no Marchen Shōjo, which has been serialized in Shogakukan's Shogaku Ninensei since 1978, Kosuke Fujishima's Oh My Goddess!, which has been running in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon since 1988, Chikako Mitsuhashi's Chiisana Koi no Monogatari, which has been in Gakken's Manga Time since 1962, and Shinji Mizushima's Abusan, which has been serialized in Shogakukan's Big Comic Original since 1973.

Here are the top ten results, along with the number of votes received by each one:

  1. Sui Ishida - Tokyo Ghoul (221)
  2. Masashi Kishimoto - Naruto (168)
  3. Yokusaru Shibata - 81diver (163)
  4. Mayumi Muroyama - Asari-chan (152)
  5. Peach-Pit - Rozen Maiden (129)
  6. Chikako Mitsuhashi - Chiisana Koi no Monogatari (114)
  7. Kosuke Fujishima - Oh My Goddess! (109)
  8. Hiroshi Sakurazaka, Ryōsuke Takeuchi, Takeshi Obata - All You Need Is Kill (101)
  9. Shinji Mizushima - Abusan (98)
  10. Yū Koyama - Azumi (93)
