While supplies last, the first people who see A Certain Magical Index film will receive 103,000 copies of a 224-page A Certain Magical Index: Road to Endymion novel written by original creator Kazuma Kamachi.

In the all-new story of the film itself, just before the completion of the Academy City space elevator "Endymion," the main characters Kamijo and Index encounter a LEVEL 0 girl named Arisa. The Magicians are after Arisa, and they attack Academy City. A female leader named Shattoaura leads a unit from Academy City against the attack. Kamijyo and Index learn from Stiyl that Arisa is key to a brewing war between the sides of Magic and Science.

Hiroshi Nishikiori (Magic Tree House, Azumanga Daioh, Angelic Layer) is returning to direct the Toaru Majutsu no Index: Endyumion no Kiseki film at the studio J.C. Staff (with CG produced by SANZIGEN). Hiroyuki Yoshino (Macross Frontier, Accel World, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) is scripting the film based on Kamachi's new story. Maiko Iuchi (Waiting in the Summer, Dog Days) is returning to compose the soundtrack.

Novel illustrator Kiyotaka Haimura is drawing several new characters for the film. Kamachi also wrote several dozen pages that flesh out new details of Academy City and the Magic side, sample text for characters and scenes, and story details just for the film.

The film will open in Japan on February 23.
