Nitroplus, THQ Create Sonico in Saints Row: The Third

The game developers Nitroplus and THQ collaborated to create a promotion with Nitroplus' mascot character Super Sonico in the Saints Row: The Third action game. As the third title in the Saints Row series, the game shipped in North America, some European countries, and Australia on November 15 and in Japan on November 17.
The partnership promotes the Saints Row: The Third game with an article and images of Sonico in the current issue of SoftBank's monthly Gemaga magazine. Saints Row: The Third sold 36,222 copies in its first week, making it one of the top six selling game titles in Japan for the week of November 14-20.
The tongue-in-cheek promotion also "announced" the Sonicomi 2: Sonico International sequel to the Communication with Sonico (Sonicomi) Microsoft Windows interactive software. Nitroplus is releasing Communication with Sonico on Friday, and the company began streaming an 80-second Sonicomi 2 teaser video to celebrate the game. Nitroplus, THQ, and Gemaga collaborated to unveil a website for the Sonicomi 2 "violence communication" game. The website lists a 2,106 yen (about US$27) retail price for the alleged game with a "permanently undecided" release date.
