posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Marty Friedman, a former guitarist for the Megadeth heavy metal rock band, will release his Tokyo Jukebox 2 J-pop cover album, featuring covers of AKB48's song "Aitakatta" and the song "Little Braver" by the Angel Beats! anime's fictional Girls Dead Monster band. Friedman's official website is currently streaming samples for each track from the album on YouTube. The album will be released on September 14 for 3,150 yen (about US$41).
The album also includes cover songs for Aya Matsuura and the band Arashi.
Friedman's previous Tokyo Jukebox album, released in 2009, included songs from Perfume, Maximum The Hormone, Mika Nakashima, and SMAP.
Friedman made a cameo with his frequent drumming collaborator Jeremy Colson and Kiss lead singer Gene Simmons in the live-action film adaptation of Kiminori Wakasugi's Detroit Metal City comedy manga. Friedman also produced and performed some guitar work on a song for a music video for NHK's Paphooo Festival 2009 in collaboration with Gurren Lagann theme singer Shōko Nakagawa (Shokotan) and web animator Rareko.
