In episodes 19-23 when they are up against a vampire, it seems that the pronounciation of the vampire's name in japanese sounds like an attempt to say "Alister Crowly" Even though his name is Alystar Krory. Alister Crowly was a man in the history of the 20th century's satanism
at episode 52, around 1:51-3:06, a resemblance of Kurosaki Ichigo (of Bleach) named Chakar Rabon appeared in a fight at Taj Majal.
at episode 78 "Taboo, Three Illusions" at around 3:25 to 4:25, the phrases that were being used were taken from the book of revelation chapters 15-16 referring to the seven bowls of wrath of God
The sudden break of the show at episode 103 was due to loosing sponsors, they said -The show (manga) was beggining to be slow and filled with secondary matters-. But they give hope by saying -We'll be glad to re-sponsor D-Gray when the manga reaches near end delivers-.
during episode 18 the rebuilt sir comblin the 3rd is an indirect reference to Mazinger Z, this is further supported when the robot is addressed as sir comblin z
In episode 9 the German headline on the paper reads, "In the Hebrew Bible the Devil is the tempter."
