Trivia:

It was long believed that, after the war, this anime was discovered by American troops and every copy burned. Recently, hower, the negatives were found, and it has been released on DVD in Japan.

There's a sequence where Bluto and Popeye surrender to the Japanese, and Popeye dropping his spinach jar. This sequence was missing in the re-releases, until it was reinstated in the 2K restoration.
