Trivia:

In the original novel, Wataru's mother committed a failed suicide attempt and wanted to bring Wataru with her after the divorce. Wataru made up his mind to change his fate due to this incident. In the anime movie, however, the story was toned down and the entire suicide chapter was replaced with Wataru's mother hospitalized.
