Plot Summary: Totto-chan is a rambunctious seven-year-old girl, perpetually excited by the world around her. However, when this “excitement” sees her kicked out of her local public school, she starts going to a new type of school where the children are free to explore whatever interests them. Here, Totto-chan starts to thrive—even as Japan plunges into the depths of the Second World War.
