From the beginning, Mechander Robo was riddled with production issues stemming from bankruptcy. This resulted in the show's sponsors forcing the animation studio to recycle old footage into newer episodes.

In 2006, the Italian DVD company Stormovie composed a number of episodes into 115 min. compilation film.
